In 1903 the Standard Telephone Company opened a telephone exchange manufacturing plant on Edge Lane in Liverpool.
Manufacturing continued on this site through two world wars and numerous depressions.
It was finally killed off by a series of bad management decisions which also resulted in the loss of thousands of jobs.
On Friday December 23rd 2005 the lights will be turned off for the very last time.
Well done Marconi. |
